§ 18-201. Measurement of amplified sounds.

Latest version.
  • (a)

Amplified sound shall be measured with an integrating-averaging sound level meter.

    (b)

Calibration of all instruments, components, and attachments shall conform to the manufacturers recommendations.

    (c)

Measurement of amplified sound shall be made by individuals trained in a noise measurement program approved by the county.

    (d)

Amplified sound shall be measured outdoors, at the property line of the property suffering the noise disturbance, which is closest to the source of the amplified sound.

    (e)

Unless site conditions are prohibitive, measurements shall be taken at approximately four feet above the ground or water surface and at least five feet away from any obstruction or reflecting surface.

    (f)

At sites with background or ambient noise levels which are at, or in excess of, the applicable sound level limits set forth in table 1, the maximum allowable amplified sound level will be the greater of three dB(A-wt)/dB(C-wt) above the sound level limits set forth in table 1, or one dB(A-wt)/dB(C-wt) above the background or ambient noise level.

    (g)

All amplified sounds shall be measured for a period not less than 15 minutes in duration.

    (h)
